July 2016 saw the first ever Sunfall festival, a new celebration of the underground music scene in London and beyond. The one day event took place in Brockwell Park in South London, featuring a line-up of almost 30 artists from all over the world, producing music to reflect the many sounds of London, including jazz, electronica, hip hop, house, techno, drum & bass, dubstep, soul and disco.

Media Structures were approached to provide a number of temporary structures for the new festival.

With years of experience in providing quality staging solutions for all kinds of events, from presentations to large festivals, we were called upon to develop a bespoke temporary stage structure for the wide variety of acts performing at the festival. With acts ranging from drum & bass DJ Goldie, to jazz saxophonist Kamasi Washington and his 10 piece band, it was essential that we designed a versatile stage platform.

Working with the client, our design team were able to create 2D and 3D drawings and visualisations to show how the stage would look within the set-up of the venue. With the designs decided on, our skilled carpenters were able to build the stage exactly to the agreed requirements, ensuring a great finish and complying with all health and safety regulations.

Along with the main stage structure, we also installed temporary speaker towers to suit a festival level sound system.
To add to the overall experience of Sunfall and to encourage festival attendees to engage with the brand, we were also asked to provide innovative experiential structures. To provide an area for people to take a break and sit down for a while, whilst simultaneously creating a landmark and meeting place, we created a Sun Fall branding tower on top of a seating platform

Keeping with the Sunfall brand colours of yellow and black, we built a black seating platform and a scaffold tower that was draped in yellow netting. To help further strengthen the Sunfall brand, we hung black signage from the scaffold frames, allowing the individual letters of Sunfall to rock gently in the breeze.

It was a special opportunity for Media Structures to work on the first ever Sunfall festival, celebrating the best of London’s vibrant underground music scene.
